How it works, what you get and whether you qualify
What is it?
As a self-employed professional, you don’t get paid when you’re unable to work. Income protection cover can help with that — but it can be costly. That’s why the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has set aside funding for self-employed professionals in the cultural and creative sector. Platform ACCT uses this funding for the Zelfverzekerd scheme: a temporary financial contribution towards the costs of your disability insurance, mutual support circle (like a Broodfonds) or crowdsurance.
Who is it for?
Zelfverzekerd is for self-employed professionals in the cultural and creative sector who already have income protection cover. Whether you’re part of the target group is determined in part by your SBI code. An SBI code is a four or five digit code that indicates what type of work you do. You received it when you registered with the Chamber of Commerce. You can find it on your Chamber of Commerce extract. More information can be found in the requirements.
What do you get?
Good to know: you can only use this scheme once. Multiple applications are not possible.
What can I expect?
1 Application approved?
You’ll hear within two weeks whether your application has been approved.
2 First payment
You claim your costs afterwards. The approval email explains exactly how this works.
3 Second payment
Twelve months after your first claim, you’ll receive the second payment.
What you need for your application
Ready?
Got everything to hand? Then you can submit your application now. It only takes a few minutes.
One more thing: this scheme is temporary and has a limited budget. Once the budget runs out, the scheme closes — and will not reopen. So don’t wait too long to apply.
