What is the Zelfverzekerd subsidy?

Do I meet the requirements?

How it works

The Dutch government wants to make sure that you, as a self-employed professional, keep getting paid when you’re unable to work. Disability insurance, a mutual support circle (like a Broodfonds) or crowdsurance can help with that. But finding the money to arrange this isn’t always easy. That’s why the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) has set aside funding to help self-employed professionals in the cultural and creative sector build that safety net.

Platform ACCT uses this funding for the Zelfverzekerd scheme: a temporary financial contribution towards the costs of your income protection cover.

So: have you arranged income protection for yourself? Then you can apply for a financial contribution through Zelfverzekerd. Want to know how the application process works? Check the full step-by-step guide in the frequently asked questions.

Don’t have a disability provision yet but want one? You can apply for the subsidy as soon as you’ve taken out insurance or begun participating in a fund. This subsidy is available to anyone working as a self-employed professional in the cultural or creative sector.

"Often with these kinds of subsidies, you think: this probably won't apply to me. Against all odds, it turned out I did qualify. It was simply a matter of filling in a form and the application was done."
